Premium Ripe Rice Paper

This is Ripe Rice Paper, perfect for Gongbi painting or certain Chinese calligraphy usages. There are several styles to choose from:

• Size: 134cm x 70cm (四尺) x 100 sheets
• Style: Ripe Rice Paper, Cicada Wing / Extra Thick / Pearly Mica
• Mainly contains fiber from Pteroceltis tatarinowii (Qing Tan)

Cicada Wing （扎花蝉翼 / 扎花蝉衣）

• This type of paper is called “Zha Hua” or “Cicada Wing”, which refers to its extremely thin nature. The name highlights the paper’s defining characteristic—its remarkable thinness. The thinner the paper, the more difficult it is to produce. This sheet is not only very thin and delicate, but also has excellent toughness and tensile strength, making it resistant to tearing or damage even when pulled or crumpled.

Extra Thick （加厚矾宣）

• Alum-sized Xuan paper (熟宣) is made by taking raw Xuan paper (生宣), applying alum water to it, drying it, and then trimming it a second time to complete the process.

Pearly Mica （珠光云母）

• Pearlescent Mica-Sized Xuan Paper is made from tanned Xuan paper (檀皮宣纸), which is hand-sized with alum and delicately coated with a layer of mica powder. The surface of the paper shimmers subtly under dim light due to the mica, giving it a soft, pearlescent glow—hence the name, reminiscent of pearls.

These paper selections are handmade from Jing Xian, the birth place of Xuan Rice Paper. They are all suitable for meticulous Gongbi painting and small calligraphy character writing.
