About the Course
Course Objective
This course is dedicated to a key combination in the Chinese painting family – the lotus flower and the kingfisher bird. The lotus flower contains quite a few cultural codes and the kingfisher brings the entire painting to life with its vivid plumage and actions. In our course, you will first learn about the composition and how to paint each individual object, and then we will put these imageries into 4 complete paintings. In the process of learning about the structure, the growth, and the usage of ink and color, you can get a good grasp of the freehand painting. You are also encouraged to create your own paintings according to the content in our course. Come join us and learn to paint the lotus and kingfisher!
Materials
- This course requires rice paper (raw or half-raw)
- 2-3 painting brushes
- Chinese painting color (use what you have first is fine)
- Other supplies (felt, water container, white plates)
