🍀 The Art of Chinese Raw Rice Paper

Chinese raw rice paper (生宣, Shēngxuān) is celebrated for its exceptional ink absorption, allowing brushstrokes to breathe and flow naturally. Among the finest varieties, 檀皮宣 (Tánpí Xuān) is crafted with a blend of 青檀树皮 (Qīngtán tree bark), producing a soft texture that enhances ink layering and depth. 麻笺 (Májiān), a paper known for its long fibers, offers remarkable durability and resilience, making it ideal for both bold strokes and delicate washes.
