The starlings are intelligent birds and they are loved by oriental artists for generations. In this piece a starling is having a chill time under some banana leaves, surrounded by red bamboo. The painting is created using the freehand painting style known as the Chinese painting (or Japanese sumie), over rice paper and then hand-mounted. This kind of painting captures the spirit of the animals vividly, the flow and the ambience of the world naturally follows.
