Course Overview
This refined painting style is perfect to release mental stress and restore your energy. Over 2,000 years ago this art originated from China, and it still enjoys its solid status in the art world today. In this course, we will start from scratch, from the familiarisation of the painting materials to painting various flowers, birds, fruits and insects. We will also discuss relevant Chinese cultural aspects during our lectures.
Like a bottle of good wine, this painting requires patience and care, which you will cultivate along the painting process, where you will slow down automatically, as will the world around you – enjoy this excellent period of peace and quiet.
Our course is the second in a series that focuses on teaching you how to paint the Gongbi style with unique materials, in this course, our focus will also be on light colored flowers. At the end of this course, you will have your very own magnolia flower that never withers.
Course Structure
In this course we will paint the magnolia flower, and in the process, we shall refine our coloring skills and learn to outline and color the branches and add the background in one way. This course will not require you to make the illustrations of the outline, instead for our beginner course, the outline will be already made and ready to download. Did you know that the magnolia flowers can be called “mu lan” in Chinese? Just like the brave girl who fought on behalf of her father in the well-known movie. Did you also notice the existence of these blossoms as a thread throughout the movie too?
“Dans chaque fleur des champs le paradis.”
There is a heaven in each flower, isn’t that true?
- This course requires rice paper (ripe)
- 1 small outline brush; 2 medium sized brushes
- Chinese painting color (use what you have first is fine)
- Other supplies (felt, water container, white plates)
The material part will be explained more in detail in the course.
This course is also the foundation to further Gongbi flower bird painting courses in the future, which will come out in the coming months to meet you!
Enjoy the journey my friends!
